Sentimental Value

  • Lansdown Hall & Gallery Lansdown Stroud, GL5 1BB (map)

Nora, an established Oslo stage actress, reunites with her sister Agnes and their estranged father, Gustav Borg (Stellan Skarsgård), a once-renowned film director preparing a major comeback with a script based on their family. When Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård) attempts to cast Nora in his comeback film, old wounds bleed anew; Nora rejects his offer, prompting the isolated patriarch to cast American star Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning), who gradually comes to realize she has unwittingly become part of a deeply personal film drama. As old tensions resurface and new complications arise, Nora, Agnes, and Gustav are forced to face their difficult pasts.

Joachim Trier’s award-winning follow-up to his 2021 hit The Worst Person in the World is a rich and deeply affecting exploration of sisterhood, father–daughter relationships, and the powerful emotional pull of childhood memories.
